April's Newsletter: Duns Food Bank

Duns Food Bank has been very busy during the first 12 weeks of 2022. During this period the Food Bank made 97 deliveries and helped 209 people, including 80 children. This represents an increase in demand of 33% compared to the same period last year.

The food store accommodation in Duns, coupled with generous food and financial donations by Church members, are clearly key elements of Food Bank activities in mid-Berwickshire. The Food Bank is therefore extremely grateful to Duns & District Parishes for their continued support.

Now, however, with the growing demand for its services and the retirement of some volunteers, the Food Bank is in urgent need of new recruits to join the Quartermaster’s and Delivery teams. Members of the Quartermaster’s team collect donated food from drop off points, shops etc., stock shelves in the food store, and are on duty for around one week in seven. The Delivery team takes food and other items to clients throughout mid-Berwickshire and team members can expect to be on duty for around one week in nine. If you would like to join one of the teams the Food Bank would be delighted to hear from you at dunsfoodbank@gmail.com
